Phone Call

A Short Story

The phone rang twice. Laura jumped from the chair and fell to the ground like a heavy stone. The phone kept ringing while she hugged her knees in fear and shook violently in her body. She was paralyzed in a state of terror; her blood had turned into cold ice. She had been walking in fear for months and often jolted in her dreams. But her agitation could express itself so aggressively on the outside for the first time. "Hi" She picked up the phone timidly and inaudibly. "I want to talk to you. Stop ignoring me.". Laura remained silent while her head was drowning in a dark sea of memories. The events of the past months emerged from the depth of her mind in sharp detail, as though she had travelled back in time.
